Towards the end of 2019, colour expert Claire Bond, from Bondthrucolour, created an amazing new 2020 colour range for Universal Paints to add to their existing large range of colours.

During an interview on The Home Channel, Claire used some of the new Universal Paints colours to redecorate her home. Below is an extract from Claire during this interview:

“The new Universal Paints 2020 colours include 3 themed colour palettes with 5 colours each. I  selected the “Vilakazi Sunset” colour palette for this makeover, as my home needed a dash of warmth and comforting colours.

My kitchen looked very tired and was in desperate need of a facelift. I selected “Café Beat”, a sophisticated dusty pink, to replace the outdated powder blue décor. This colour combined perfectly with my wooden flooring, which has a warm undertone.

My home is open plan, so the kitchen leads directly into the dining room and lounge. I wanted the kitchen area to feel like a separate space, which required painting my dining room in a colour that would combine well with the kitchen unit colour.

As my dining table and server are glass, and the walls were beige, the area looked unfinished and sterile.  From the same palette, “Marimba” had the X factor for me! This colour has completely transformed my dining room, and it has become an indulgently inviting space, which I love. The final frontier I had to conquer was my lounge. To achieve my vision, I created a two-tone paint effect by creating a dividing line between the two wall sections. The large antique unit’s rich mahogany complimented the new two-tone wall, and I now have a home that is up to date.

I also have the advantage that it is flexible enough to double up as a home office, whilst being an uplifting and comfortable space to unwind in after a long day.”
