For four inspiring days, Universal Paints was proud to be part of Decorex Joburg 2026, one of South Africa’s leading décor and design exhibitions. From meaningful conversations and industry networking to expert DIY advice and fresh design inspiration, the event gave us the opportunity to connect with homeowners, designers, contractors and décor enthusiasts who all share a passion for creating beautiful spaces.
The Soft Life: Looking Towards the Homes of Tomorrow
This year’s Decorex theme, The Soft Life, explored how our homes can become places of comfort, restoration and intentional living.
For more than three decades, Decorex has shaped design conversations across South Africa, and this year’s exhibition continued that tradition by showcasing how thoughtful design, innovative materials, technology and sustainability are influencing the way we live.
The theme aligned perfectly with Universal Paints’ belief that the right paint system is about more than colour. It helps protect surfaces, enhances the spaces we spend time in and creates finishes that are made to last.
Sharing Expertise at the DIY Studio
One of the highlights of the exhibition was seeing our Projects and Specifications Manager, Nomsa Sindane, present her DIY Studio Talk, “Surfaces That Last.”
Nomsa shared practical advice on choosing decorative and protective coating systems that deliver long-lasting performance, helping attendees better understand everything from selecting the correct paint system to choosing the ideal finish for different spaces.
The session sparked plenty of conversation and gave visitors practical knowledge they can take into their own renovation, decorating and specification projects.
A Weekend Full of Great Conversations
Throughout the four-day exhibition, our stand welcomed hundreds of visitors who stopped by to learn more about Universal Paints, discuss upcoming projects and chat about colour, coatings and design.
Decorex has always been about bringing people together, and it was fantastic to meet so many homeowners, architects, designers, decorators and contractors who are passionate about creating exceptional spaces. Every conversation gave us the opportunity to share ideas, answer questions and build new relationships within the industry.
The event also marked the launch of the SA Décor & Design Buyer’s Guide, where Universal Paints was proudly featured following our recent SA Décor & Design Endorsement—a recognition of our ongoing commitment to quality, professionalism and trusted service within the industry.
